Finnish OdorOff Oy sets a new acceptable quality level to odor removal

A bad smell no longer needs to be tolerated or accepted. Smells polluting the environment can be removed completely regardless of target.

Removing odors is challenging work. There are no straight-forward standard values for odors in Finland. By implication, however, odors can be dealt with in those cases, where it can be stated that the odor causes significant comfort and health issues. This is defined by the human nose.

For example, in waste water there are hundreds of different compounds causing odors. Even a pleasant smell can sometimes cause problems. Thus far odor problems have been dealt with mostly by reducing or transferring the odor, which at the worst has resulted in millions of euros worth of sewer renovations.
